There has been another position change at Clemson.
Sixth-year senior Dietrick Pennington has seen a change to his status on the school’s official website. After spending his first five seasons as an offensive lineman, Pennington is now listed as a DT/OL and will wear No. 91.
The Tigers have some depth concerns along the interior of the defensive line, with transfer Kourtney Kelly tearing an ACL during the spring and Vic Burley missing a chunk of time during fall camp with an undisclosed injury.
Pennington enters the season having played 121 snaps across 27 games.
Chris Denson’s position change is now also official.
The school’s official website now lists Denson as a wide receiver. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder signed with the Tigers as a quarterback in the 2025 class.
Denson played 11 snaps while redshirting last season, wowing fans with his playmaking ability while rushing for more than 100 yards in mop-up duty in a late-season win over Furman.
However, following the spring game in March, head coach Dabo Swinney noted that Denson had fallen behind the other quarterbacks and that a position change was already being discussed. When fall camp began, Denson was lined up with the receivers during stretches, but a tweaked hamstring kept him out of the early practices. He has since returned and saw some action during the first scrimmage of camp last weekend.
