Shortly after being let go by one NFL team, a former member of Clemson’s secondary has been picked up by another franchise.

The Cleveland Browns have claimed rookie cornerback Toriano Pride Jr. off waivers from the Buffalo Bills.

The transaction occurred on Monday, just one day after the Bills waived him during final roster cuts.

Pride was selected by the Bills in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 220 overall pick (fourth pick of Round 7). He was the only player waived by Buffalo to be claimed by another franchise.

The Browns got an up-close look at Pride during a joint practice and their second preseason game against the Bills on Aug. 22.

Pride spent his first two college seasons at Clemson before transferring to Missouri for his final two college campaigns.

At Clemson from 2022-23, Pride tallied 37 tackles (two for loss), nine pass breakups, a sack, an interception and a safety over 26 games (three starts). In his final year as a Tiger, he was credited with 14 tackles (one for loss) and five pass breakups across 12 games, including one start.

After transferring to Missouri ahead of the 2024 campaign, Pride played in all 13 games for Mizzou in 2024 while compiling 22 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, one fumble recovery and a forced fumble. In 13 games as a senior last season, he totaled 24 tackles (1.5 for loss), two interceptions, including a pick-six, a fumble recovery that he returned 62 yards and four pass breakups.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder from St. Louis, Mo., was a national top-40 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class according to 247Sports.

Pride ran a blazing 40-yard dash at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He wowed by running the 40 in 4.32 seconds – the fastest 40 time at the combine by any cornerback.
