LSU head coach Lane Kiffin couldn’t help but troll Clemson and take a shot at the opposing Tigers during Saturday night’s beatdown in Baton Rouge.

At halftime of No. 11 LSU’s evisceration of Clemson at LSU’s Tiger Stadium, Kiffin delivered this comment after his Tigers took a commanding 31-3 lead into the locker room en route to the eventual 51-10 romp.

“Imagine if we had pro players,” Kiffin said during his halftime interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, with LSU dominating even without the controversial ex-pros.

Of course, Kiffin made the decision before Saturday’s game to leave former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris off LSU’s roster for the season opener against Clemson, saying that the choice was made in the best interest of the team and the university.

Despite a Louisiana state judge granting an injunction that legally paved the way for them to play, LSU chose not to put them on the official 105-man roster by the Friday night deadline. LSU intentionally left two open spots on their submitted 103-player roster. Because both Wright and Harris are enrolled at LSU, they could potentially be added to the team’s roster later in the year.

At the time he made that halftime remark, Kiffin’s offense had outgained Clemson 336-54. LSU had 21 first downs at the time, while Clemson had mustered just one. LSU had close to 100 yards on the ground before the end of the first quarter and averaged 6.5 yards per carry over the first 30 minutes.
