What They’re Saying: LSU Trounces Clemson

Clemson suffered its worst loss of the Dabo Swinney era on Saturday night in Baton Rouge, La., getting trounced by LSU, 51-10, at LSU’s Tiger Stadium.

LSU outgained Clemson 644-145, as the Bayou Bengals handed Swinney’s Tigers their fourth straight season-opening defeat and fifth season-opening loss in the last six years.

LSU now leads the all-time series against Clemson, 5-1, including wins in each of the last three meetings between the programs. Clemson’s lone win in the series came by a score of 25-24 in the 2012 Peach Bowl.

LSU entered the contest as a 10.5-point favorite on the spread, but the final margin was obviously far more lopsided than that.
