A Georgia Southern defensive back senses a vulnerable Clemson squad following the Tigers’ blowout 51-10 loss to LSU in Week 1.

Georgia Southern’s Aaron Sears went viral for his confident comments ahead of his team’s matchup against Clemson on Saturday.

Sears openly admitted he likes the Eagles’ odds, despite his team being a 20.5-point underdog on the road.

When asked if he thinks the Tigers look vulnerable right now and like a beatable team for Georgia Southern, the fifth-year player stated he was “smiling and pretty happy about our odds” after seeing Clemson’s historic defeat against LSU.

 “Oh for sure. I don’t like jumping the gun, but once I’d seen some of the things I’ve seen, I was smiling and pretty happy about our odds going into this game this week,” Sears said. “Really happy and pumped up for it, being ready to execute and go handle our business.”

Georgia Southern is coming off a 31-0 season-opening shutout against Charleston Southern. Meanwhile, Clemson is under plenty of pressure as head coach Dabo Swinney and his program face heavy criticism over their Week 1 performance, the worst loss in the Swinney era.

Saturday’s game at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is slated for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on ACC Network.

Sears transferred to Georgia Southern in January after spending his first four years at Stephen F. Austin, where he was a freshman FCS All-American in 2023 and a second-team All-Southland Conference selection in 2025, when he tallied 44 tackles (3.5 for loss) to go with an interception and a fumble recovery.
