National analysts continue to pile on Clemson and head coach Dabo Swinney following his team’s embarrassing 51-10 loss to LSU in Baton Rouge last Saturday.

Colin Cowherd stated on The Colin Cowherd Podcast that “it may be time for Dabo to go.”

Speaking with former NFL scout John Middlekauff, Cowherd heavily criticized Swinney’s resistance to adapt to the modern era of college football, with Cowherd specifically pointing to Swinney’s hesitancy to embrace the transfer portal and NIL.

Cowherd compared Swinney’s resistance to a failed business leader.

“It would be a CEO today saying, ‘We don’t believe in AI,’ you know, or 40 years ago, ‘We’re not going to use the internet,’” Cowherd said. “To not embrace the portal and NIL — and I like Dabo — is a fireable offense.”

Cowherd declared the LSU game, which marks the worst loss of the Swinney era and the worst for Clemson since 2000, as a “tipping point moment” for Swinney’s career.

“I think it took that moment. I think it’s kind of a tipping point moment,” Cowherd said. “As the CEO of a top-10 college football program, it may be time for Dabo to go.”

Cowherd called out Swinney for being “stubborn.”

“He has dug his feet in, rigid, stubborn — like that [LSU game] was humiliating, was it not?” Cowherd said.

Swinney’s team looks to respond from the season-opening defeat this Saturday when the Tigers take on Georgia Southern at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium (7:30 p.m., ACC Network).
