On Wednesday evening, during his final media availability before Saturday’s home opener, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney gave the latest on the status of an injured offensive lineman.

Swinney said fifth-year senior Collin Sadler continues to ramp up and is on track to play in Saturday’s game vs. Georgia Southern.

Sadler, Clemson’s expected starter at right tackle, missed the season opener against LSU last Saturday with what Swinney described as a “fluke” injury in the weight room.

But Swinney said Wednesday that Sadler was “close” to being able to play last week and could have played in an emergency situation.

“He’s had a good week,” Swinney said. “He was close last week. He was kind of ready in an emergency-type of situation, if we just had to have him for some reason. But he just hadn’t been able to practice in a week or so. … But he’s doing good, had a good week.”

Sophomore Easton Ware made his first career start in Sadler’s place.

Sadler is one of Clemson’s most experienced offensive linemen, having appeared in 28 games over his career, with 15 of those being starts. The 6-foot-6, 310-pounder has logged close to 1,300 snaps during his first four seasons with the program.

Saturday’s game at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ACC Network.
