Kirk Herbstreit certainly isn’t alone in expressing deep concern for Clemson following its 51-10 Week 1 loss to LSU.

On ACC Today on College Sports on SiriusXM, ESPN analyst Roddy Jones said he is “very concerned” about the Tigers as well.

Alongside Jones, co-host Wes Durham revealed his season outlook for Clemson following the loss to LSU in Baton Rouge last Saturday, saying “I’ve been living in the 8-4 to 4-8 window for Clemson.”

“I am concerned about Clemson. Very concerned about Clemson,” Jones said.

“If Clemson is 4-8 this season, the sky is falling. The sky would descend upon the Upstate of South Carolina in a way that it never has,” Jones added.

Jones apparently isn’t ruling out a dismal 4-8 season, warning that it could become reality if the blowout against LSU was not a “massive aberration.”

Jones ran through how he thinks Clemson’s 2026 schedule could play out if Dabo Swinney’s team performs like it did against the Bayou Bengals.

“I don’t want to tell Clemson fans to have no hope. But in order for it to get close to like nine wins — even eight wins, to be honest with you — this has to be a massive, massive aberration. Massive,” Jones said.

“Because if they play like they did against LSU, they’ll lose to Georgia Southern, they will lose to North Carolina, they will lose to Cal. They’ll probably beat Charleston Southern. They will get blown off the face of the planet by Miami. They’ll lose to Virginia Tech. They might be able to beat Florida State. We’ll see about Syracuse — I think the jury’s still out. But I would tend to say they’ll probably lose to Syracuse because it’s up there, and Clemson has gone up there and it’s been a little dicey before with better teams than they will roll up there with. Who knows about Georgia Tech, who knows about Duke, and they will lose to South Carolina.”

Jones added that the team’s struggles across the offensive line, quarterback play, and running game could derail the Tigers’ season if they don’t iron out the issues.

“They have to play so much better on the offensive line. From a scheme standpoint, knowing what to do, and execution,” Jones said. “They have to be better at the quarterback position. The quarterback was not the issue, but the quarterback position also did not play well. Christopher Vizzina threw the pick-six. Tried to throw another one. There were balls in danger that you just cannot have. The running backs, did they even play? I’m not even sure the running backs were in the game.”

Tonight’s game vs. Georgia Southern at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. on ACC Network. Clemson is a 19.5-point favorite.
