CLEMSON – One of the issues in Clemson’s loss to LSU last week, was its inability to run the football. The Tigers managed just 40 yards on the ground in Baton Rouge, La., not exactly where they thought they would be at this point.

Clemson hopes to improve in the run game this week, as the Tigers get set to play Georgia Southern Saturday (7:30 p.m.) in its home open opener at Memorial Stadium.

Earlier this week, Clemson running back Jarvis Green spoke with the media. Green led the Tigers with 21 of the team’s 40 yards last week, including a nice run that set up Clemson’s only touchdown.

Question: What do you think the team’s response will be this week against Georgia Southern?

Answer: “Everybody is holding each other accountable and is picking up each other, saying, ‘We got this! We got this!” Picking up each other’s brothers, push through everything and just go on to the next weekend and try to be the best that we can.”

Question: What is your confidence heading into the Georgia Southern Game?

Answer: “We know that we are a good team and that we made some mistakes last week that we can fix. We just went back and watched film and we prepare every day. We are just trying to get better and be the team that we should be.”  

Question: What is the biggest change that needs to happen on Saturday?

Answer: “Just being able to do your part. Carrying your own weight throughout the team. Being just one of 11. That is something Coach [Dabo] Swinney always tells us. Just fix those mistakes and do your part.”

Question: Do you believe this team can still be a good team?

Answer: “Everybody is doing their part and is staying together as a brotherhood. We are picking each other up whenever we are down or whenever somebody feels like they are not doing something well. We are picking them up and being there for them as a team. We just need to go out there, have fun and play together.”

Question: Do you have a chip on your shoulder?

Answer: “I am playing with a chip on my shoulder because I have been hurt for most of my years here. Being a kid from Irmo, S.C., and wearing that paw, I feel like I have a chip on my shoulder just to give back to this college.”
