CLEMSON — Junior kicker Nolan Hauser booted a career-high-tying five field goals and Clemson’s defense forced eight three-and-outs in a dominant performance as Clemson defeated Georgia Southern, 22-7, at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

The Tigers improved to 1-1 on the young season, while the Eagles fell to 1-1.

The game was delayed by nearly two hours due to lightning and heavy rains in the area before kickoff, resulting in the latest home kickoff time in program history, coming just after 9:30 p.m. ET. It marked Clemson’s second straight game with a pregame lightning delay after its season opener at LSU was delayed roughly two hours as well.

Clemson returns to Memorial Stadium this Saturday for its ACC opener against North Carolina (noon, ESPN).
