CLEMSON — There is some good news when it comes to the Protect the College Sports Act.

Yahoo’s Ross Dellenger is reporting, “The Protect College Sports Act is moving on, garnering the necessary 60 votes in the first of three procedural votes toward passage. One day’s time (and 60 votes) is required between each vote. Leaders are targeting mid-next week for the final vote.”

This is huge news for collegiate athletics, especially after Dellenger reported this earlier on Tuesday evening. The bill still has to go to one more vote from the Senate before moving to the House. However, Dellenger reports if it carries to the House, it is believed the bill will pass with ease.

A full vote to pass is expect next week in the Senate.

Sen. Ted Cruz, speaking after finalization of the 74-24 procedural vote, tells Yahoo Sports: “When the Senate passes the bill (in the final vote), I believe the House will take it up and pass it. I fully expect this will be signed into law before election day.”

Sen. Cruz also said to Dellenger, “hat the true vote count is 76, as the two absentees (Coons and Rosen) support the legislation. They are bill co-sponsors.”
