After making his NFL debut last Sunday, a former Clemson standout will not play in Week 2 of the season.

Blake Miller, who didn’t miss a single game at Clemson, will be sidelined for his second contest as a professional.

The Detroit Lions have officially ruled out Miller, their rookie starting right tackle, for their Week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night due to a knee injury.

Miller, the team’s 17th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, experienced discomfort following his professional debut in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints. He played 77 snaps in his team’s 31-30, overtime win and allowed just one hurry across 41 pass-blocking reps, per Pro Football Focus.

The injury ends a remarkable iron-man streak for Miller, who never missed a game throughout his four-year career at Clemson.

Miller broke the Clemson record for career snaps from scrimmage by playing 3,778 offensive snaps over 54 career games from 2022-25. The three-time All-ACC selection started every game Clemson played in his career and set the Clemson record for consecutive starts by a non-specialist with 54. 

Miller became Clemson’s highest-selected offensive lineman since 1960, when Lou Cordileone was selected by the New York Giants with the No. 12 overall pick and Harold Olson was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the No. 13 overall pick.
