Transfer cornerback Elliot Washington II shined once again in Clemson’s latest win, and he earned some national recognition following his standout performance in Week 4 of the 2026 season.

On3 ranked Washington at No. 9 on its weekly list of the top 10 transfer portal impact players.

The Penn State transfer earned the honor after recording two interceptions and allowing just 9 receiving yards on three targets during Clemson’s 24-10 victory over the California Golden Bears this past Friday night in Berkeley, Calif.

With the pair of picks at Cal, Washington became the first Clemson player to nab an interception in back-to-back games and the first to record multiple interceptions in a single game since Ricardo Jones accomplished both feats last season.

“One of the biggest criticisms of Dabo Swinney in recent years has been his decision to not embrace the transfer portal. He’s started to warm up to the portal, however, and that showed Friday night at Cal,” On3’s Pete Nakos wrote. “Penn State transfer Elliot Washington posted two interceptions in the 24-10 win, with his second of the night sealing the win.”

Prior to starring at Cal, Washington also came up with a game-sealing interception — his first interception as a Tiger — in Clemson’s comeback 28-20 win over North Carolina on Sept. 19.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder has been highly productive through his first four games for the Tigers (3-1, 2-0 ACC). He collected six tackles and two pass breakups in his Clemson debut at LSU on Sept. 5 and then added four tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup vs. Georgia Southern on Sept. 12.

Washington transferred to Clemson after spending his first three seasons at Penn State, where he played under former Nittany Lions and current Clemson defensive coordinator Tom Allen in 2024.

As a junior last season, he appeared in 12 games, totaling 18 tackles, an interception and three pass breakups, in addition to scoring on a 35-yard return of a blocked field goal at Iowa.

Overall, in his three seasons at Penn State, Washington collected 53 tackles (1.5 for loss), two interceptions and nine pass breakups over 36 games, including one start.

He was a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class out of Venice (Fla.) High School, and was touted as the No. 54 overall prospect in the country for his recruiting class by ESPN.

Washington and the Tigers are set to host No. 4 Miami this Saturday at Memorial Stadium (7:30 p.m., ABC).

Hurricanes quarterback Darian Mensah landed at No. 5 on On3’s list of the most impactful transfer portal players from Week 4.

“Darian Mensah will face his first real test at Miami this weekend when the Hurricanes travel to Clemson, but he’s been lights out in the first four games of the season,” Nakos wrote. “He’s the first quarterback in more than 30 years with more touchdowns than incompletions through four games and has an 88.7% completion percentage, which leads the nation. He was 23 of 27 for 338 yards with four total touchdowns in a blowout win over Central Michigan.”
