Erik Bakich and Clemson continue to add pieces to the Tigers’ 2028 recruiting class.
LHP Ethan Obyrne (Jackson High School, OH) announced his commitment on Thursday, becoming the second 2028 prospect to announce a verbal pledge this week.
“I’m very excited to announce that I have committed to Clemson University to continue my baseball career,” he posted to social media.
“Thank you to my family, Coach Gamble, Coach Yoder, Coach Ware, and all the other coaches who have helped me throughout this journey. Special thanks to Nick Lemay and Nick Venuto for making me into the player I am today. Thank you Coach Bakich, Coach Belanger, and the rest of the Clemson staff for the opportunity.”
As a sophomore, Obyrne pitched 46.3 innings, finishing with a 1.36 ERA. He struck out 60, walked 20 and had a WHIP of 0.91. He threw two complete games, including one no-hitter.
Obyrne joins shortstop Peter Pignatiello as players to announce commitments to Clemson this week. Catcher Henry Tutera and RHP Finn Boyles also announced verbal pledges in recent weeks.
