Swinney Gives Latest Update on Injured RB

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney met with the media on Monday evening and gave an update on the status of an injured running back, as the Tigers head into their open date this weekend.

Swinney said that Jarvis Green will miss the Charleston Southern game on Oct. 17, but the Tigers expect him to return after that.

“He’s going to be out for the Charleston Southern game. But we should have him back after that,” Swinney said. “But he will not play in the Charleston Southern game.”

The senior backup running back got banged up in the fourth quarter of Clemson’s 41-13 loss to Miami this past Saturday, with Swinney saying after the game that Green’s “shoulder was bothering him.”

Green rushed for 14 yards on three carries in that contest. The 5-foot-9, 205-pounder has recorded 21 carries for 88 yards in five games this season.

Last year, Green medically redshirted after missing the season after sustaining a foot injury in fall camp. The Irmo, S.C., native came into the 2026 season credited with 12 carries for 57 yards and two receptions for 35 yards with a touchdown in 37 career offensive snaps over 11 games. He also recorded a 36-yard kickoff return in 2023.

Green’s first career reception came in the 2024 College Football Playoff game at Texas, and his first career touchdown came on a 25-yard catch later in that contest. He amassed more than 6,000 career all-purpose yards and 91 total touchdowns at state powerhouse Dutch Fork before signing with Clemson.

After the open date this weekend and then the Oct. 17 game vs. Charleston Southern at Memorial Stadium (12 p.m., ACC Network), Clemson will stay home to host Virginia Tech on Oct. 24.
