Clemson extended its lead to 17-0 early in the second quarter of Saturday’s Military Appreciation Day game against Charleston Southern at Memorial Stadium.
Following Clemson running back Chris Johnson Jr.’s 6-yard rushing touchdown with just over five minutes remaining in the first quarter, the Tigers (3-2) added to their lead on a 7-yard touchdown run by fellow running back Gideon Davidson at the 13:30 mark of the second period.
It marks the fifth rushing touchdown of the season for Davidson. He became the first Clemson running back to rush for a touchdown in four straight games since Will Shipley in 2022, when he did it in six straight games.
Davidson’s touchdown capped a 12-play, 40-yard drive that spanned 4:18.
