Swinney Gives Update on Injured RB

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney updated the status of an injured running back heading into the Tigers’ matchup against Virginia Tech on Saturday.

During his radio show Monday night, Swinney said he’s hopeful that backup running Jarvis Green will return for the Virginia Tech game.

The senior got banged up in the fourth quarter of Clemson’s 41-13 loss to Miami on Oct. 3, with Swinney saying after the game that Green’s “shoulder was bothering him.”

Green then missed Saturday’s 37-0 win over Charleston Southern.

“Hopefully we’ll get Jarvis back this week,” Swinney said Monday.

Green rushed for 14 yards on three carries in the Miami game before getting injured. The 5-foot-9, 205-pounder has recorded 21 carries for 88 yards in five games this season.

Last year, Green medically redshirted after missing the season after sustaining a foot injury in fall camp. The Irmo, S.C., native came into the 2026 season credited with 12 carries for 57 yards and two receptions for 35 yards with a touchdown in 37 career offensive snaps over 11 games. He also recorded a 36-yard kickoff return in 2023.

Saturday’s game vs. Virginia Tech at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff and will be televised on ESPN.
