In Week 7 of the NFL season, former Clemson star Deshaun Watson once again stepped up in crunch time when his team needed him the most.
The Cleveland Browns defeated the Tennessee Titans 27-24 on Sunday after Watson led another game-winning drive — his fifth fourth-quarter, game-winning drive of the 2026 season.
After the Titans tied the game at 24 with 58 seconds left, the Browns got the ball back and Watson proceeded to complete three straight passes, including a 36-yard catch-and-run to tight end Harold Fannin Jr. to move Cleveland deep into Tennessee territory.
With three seconds remaining, kicker Andre Szmyt drilled a walk-off, 32-yard field goal as time expired at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn.
Earlier in the fourth quarter, Watson guided Cleveland on an eight-play, 71-yard drive that he finished himself with a 9-yard rushing touchdown to briefly put the Browns ahead 24-17 with 4:34 remaining.
Watson completed 25 of 36 passes for 308 yards — his first 300-yard passing game as a member of the Browns – with the rushing touchdown and one interception.
With the victory, the Browns improved to 5-2 on the season and sit atop the AFC North heading into their Week 8 road matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Following a long road to recovery from multiple Achilles tendon tears that cut his 2024 season short and wiped out his 2025 campaign entirely, Watson entered Sunday’s game against Tennessee having completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 1,174 yards and seven touchdown passes with two interceptions over the first six games this season, while also rushing for 196 yards on 45 carries.
Watson, 31, is in the final year of his fully guaranteed $230 million contract that he signed in March 2022 after being traded to Cleveland from the Houston Texans, with whom he was a three-time Pro Bowler.
