A current Clemson commit is up for one of the biggest honors in the Palmetto State.
Three-star in-state DT Jaden Wuerth (Dutch Fork) has been named one of five finalists for Mr. Football in the state of South Carolina.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder is in the midst of a stellar senior campaign, having racked up more than 50 tackles and 18 sacks for the unbeaten Silver Foxes.
Wuerth committed to the Tigers back in the spring. Miami, Penn State, NC State, Virginia Tech and South Carolina represented some of his other offers.
Here are the five finalists:
- DL Jaden Wuerth (Dutch Fork)
- RB Tre Segara (Byrnes)
- QB Xavier Means (Northwestern)
- LB Kendaris Bailey (Gaffney)
- RB Jayven Williams (Summerville)
The award will be announced at halftime of the Touchstone Energy Bowl in Myrtle Beach on Dec. 12. Mr. Football is awarded annually to the top public school high school senior football player in the state, and it factors in performance on and off the field.
