Great news on Clemson’s Elyjah Thurmon.
On Sunday, Clemson Football provided a positive update on the junior offensive lineman.
“OL Elyjah Thurmon has been discharged from the hospital and is returning to Clemson,” Clemson Football’s official social media account posted.
“Thank you to the medical teams from both Clemson and Florida State for their care. Elyjah, his family and the broader Clemson family are grateful for everyone’s prayers and support last night.”
As you know, Thurmon had to be stretchered off the field after suffering a scary injury during Clemson’s 36-24 win on Saturday night at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.
The injury happened on a Clemson running play early in the second quarter, when there was a head-to-head collision between Thurmon and a Florida State linebacker and Thurmon was hit on the left side of his head by the FSU defender.
There was an extended delay in the game as Thurmon was tended to. When he was taken away on a cart, he gave a thumbs-up. He was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for further evaluation, accompanied by his mother.
After the game, Swinney provided an update on Thurmon’s status, saying “the signs are positive” regarding his injury. Swinney said it was mainly concerns about a concussion and head/neck area, and that he expected Thurmon to be kept in the hospital overnight.
“They’re probably going to keep him overnight for observation, but I think the signs are all positive right now,” Swinney said after the game. “I think it’s more just maybe a concussion-type thing and just that whole neck area. But he had good strength, good movement and all that. So, we’re hopeful that they’ll let him go tomorrow and he’ll be able to get home.”
Thurmon, Clemson’s starting left guard, has started all seven games he’s played in this year.
The 6-foot-4, 325-pounder was limited by injury to 129 offensive snaps over three games (one start) in 2025.
A Mississippi native who finished his prep career in Georgia before signing with the Tigers in 2024, Thurmon played 146 snaps from scrimmage over eight games (one start) in his debut 2024 campaign.
