CLEMSON — Clemson’s offense had its best game of the season thus far, when it scored 36 points in the Tigers’ win at Florida State last week.
The question now is, can they do it again, and if so, how will they attack the Syracuse defense when they travel to JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y., on Saturday?
Last week, tight end Olsen Patt-Henry caught a season high four passes for 30 yards, including his first touchdown of the season. Henry spoke about the offense and how it plans to use the tight ends more as the season goes along.
Question: That was your first touchdown since 2024 this past weekend. Did you get a sense of relief when you got to the end zone?
Answer: “I wouldn’t necessarily say relief, just, an opportunity came and it’s something I practiced all year, something I practiced last year and just the moment came and I was just ready for my opportunity.”
Question: You are used primarily as a blocker. So, with the amount of work that you put in as one of Clemson’s best blocking tight ends, does it feel like you’ve earned it a little bit more now when you get your touchdowns after working for that?
Answer: “Yeah, sometimes. But at the end of the day, it’s like I’m just doing what I’m asked to do and that may be go out there and block 50 times. That may be go out there and catch a few balls. I’m a team player and I’m going to do whatever to help the team win.”
Question: How does it feel to see the offense go out there execute and produce the way you know you guys can?
Answer: “It felt good because it’s something that we’ve practiced all year honestly and it’s just that it clicked and now I think everybody is seeing what it looks like and we’re just going to take off from there and use that momentum.”
Question: How can the offense consistently produce going forward?
Answer: “For us, continue to just practice, stay together as a team and stay together as a unit.”
Question: Do you feel with Harris Sewell and Elyjah Thurmon out due to injuries that the tight ends will have to step and try to fill that void with those two not being in there this week?
Answer: “Shoot. Y’all see what we can do on Saturday? It felt good just seeing us both go out there and just handle business. But at the end of the day, it’s just some days they’re going to ask us to block, some days they are going to ask us to catch a few balls. And we both were just ready for the opportunity.”
