Kuhn commits to Clemson over SC

By Hale McGranahan.

Kris Kuhn had plenty of options to pick from when it came to deciding where he wants to play his college ball.

The rising junior righty from Pinewood Prep in Summerville opted to commit to Clemson on Friday, choosing the Tigers over several offers, including South Carolina, College of Charleston, UNC, Furman and Liberty.

After Kuhn’s pledge to Jack Leggett and the Clemson baseball program was reported by TheClemsonInsider.com, he spoke about the decision.

“Well, I’d seen all the schools that offered me,” Kuhn said. “Clemson was definitely the best one for me, the best fit overall. I just couldn’t see myself playing anywhere else besides Clemson.”

The 6-1, 165-pound prospect first visited in eighth grade for a camp. He returned a few days ago for a tour around the Clemson campus and the facilities over at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Kuhn also spent time getting to know coaches Jack Leggett, Dan Pepicelli and Bradley LeCroy.

“I really like that they’re in the ACC and they’re a very competitive program,” Kuhn said. “All of the coaches, I like a lot, like Pepicelli and coach LeCroy. It’s just a great place and a great program.”
