Elite OT wowed by Clemson visit

The offer sheet for 2018 offensive tackle [autotag]Will Lawrence[/autotag] reads like a who’s who of college football.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, UNC, Ohio State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC and West Virginia have all offered the rising sophomore from the Harding Academy of Memphis.

Clemson jumped on board last week when he was on campus Thursday for a visit.

“It was really, really nice. I liked it a lot. It was incredible,” Lawrence told TheClemsonInsider of his visit to Tigertown.

He added, “I didn’t really see a negative. It was all pretty incredible. There wasn’t anything really more better than the other, it was just all amazing.

“But, I guess, coach Robbie Caldwell, he was incredible. Their facilities were nice. The other coaches were nice. It was just really, really cool.”

The 6-foot-3, 277-pound prospect is also impressed with the state Clemson’s program.

“Clemson is an amazing program. They’ve definitely been up there the past couple of years, too. I think they’ll go even further than where they are now,” he said.

Lawrence doesn’t have any favorites, but he named Clemson, Auburn, Texas, Alabama and Georgia as the schools that are recruiting him the hardest.

Several factors will be weighed as he moves through the recruiting process.

“First, the o-line coach, because I’ll be seeing him the most,” Lawrence said. “Then, what classes I want to major in, then, you know, the campus and the other coaches, all parts of the facility and the other stuff that’s there.”

In addition to his Clemson visit, Lawrence also visited South Carolina last week. On Sunday he camped at Texas.

This week, he’ll attend camps at Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Clemson.

Lawrence will attend the Dabo Swinney Football Camp on Wednesday.
