Personal touch

[autotag]Chase Brice[/autotag]’s first visit to Clemson was a productive one.

On campus for the Saturday sessions at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, Brice added Clemson to his list of suitors after putting together an offer-worthy performance in front of the Tiger coaches.

Swinney personally delivered the message.

“After the second session, I went over and got my stuff. I was talking to my dad and coach Dabo, he pulled up on his golf cart and then he talked to us for a little bit,” Brice said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider.

“We were standing there and he said, ‘You have a scholarship to play here at Clemson.'”

It was an offer coveted by the 2017 quarterback from Loganville-Grayson (Ga.).

“I was pretty excited. I’ve liked Clemson for a while. When he said it, I had a big grin on my face. It just means a lot. I’m thankful for it,” Brice said.

Though it was his first trip to the school, Brice knows a few players already on the team at Clemson: Wayne Gallman and Ryan Carter, both of whom signed out of Grayson in 2013.

“I thought it was all nice. I thought coming into Clemson was really neat,” Brice said. “I like the practice facility. I like that they’re near a lake. Their facilities are real nice and real sharp. They’re professional.”

A number of factors have piqued his interest in Clemson, among them being the direction of the program.

“They’ve been pretty successful with a lot of 10-win, 11-win seasons,” Brice said. “They’re real close to playing for a national championship. I think they could get there in the next few years. They’re on the track. They’re a really good program, a really good coaching staff.”

Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia are among the schools that have already offered. Brice, however, isn’t ready to start putting together a list of favorites.

“I’m open to anything. I like all these schools that have offered me right now, so I’m pretty open,” Brice said.

As a sophomore, he passed for 1,759 yards with 19 touchdowns.
