Clemson running back Wayne Gallman says the defensive line has been the most consistent unit in camp, and has been whipping the running game for the most part.
“They beat our butts a lot of times,” Gallman said.
The dividends of that butt kicking are starting to pay off. Gallman and head coach Dabo Swinney both praised the offensive line following Monday’s practice. Swinney said the offensive line did a good job opening up holes and getting the running backs to the safeties.
“I thought we ran the ball well, offensively. I really liked what I saw from our guys up front in the running game,” Swinney said. “We got several backs to the safety, and he has the safety.”
The running game rushed for 207 yards in Saturday’s scrimmage, and Gallman says that is all thanks to the defensive line.
“They have made our offensive line so much better from this spring all the way where they are right now,” Gallman said.
