Justin Foster, one of the country’s top 2017 linebackers, was back in Clemson on Saturday for the season-opener against Wofford.
The four-star from Shelby-Crest (N.C.) spoke with TheClemsonInsider on Sunday about his trip down to Tigertown.
“It was a great time,” he said. “I went to the game, like normal, went through the usual routine. I walked up to the hill right before they ran down.
“I talked to Dabo (Swinney) for a quick bit before they ran down. I watched the game, then I left during the third quarter, because it was a blowout.”
What did Swinney have to say?
“He said it was great to see me. Because it was right before they ran down the hill, we just had a quick, couple of words to say. He just said it was great seeing me.”
Before Saturday, Foster’s last visit to Clemson was in July.
“They had a players’ practice and I went down there for that. I just watched the practice then I was with the coaches for about two hours,” he said.
Foster hasn’t scheduled a return to Clemson, but he will be head to Virginia Tech for the Ohio State game. He’ll also be in Knoxville on Saturday for Tennessee’s game against Oklahoma.
“I wouldn’t say that I have a top-five. I’m still open to all schools. I’m still looking around and have more schools to visit,” Foster said. “And I’ll probably narrow down my list soon, probably near the end of the football season, I’ll start to narrow down my list.”
According to Rivals, Foster is the No. 2 outside linebacker in the class of 2017.
“I’m just really looking for somewhere I can come in and play, maybe start as a sophomore, get some time to play as a freshman. If they (have) my major, because I want to major in mechanical engineering,” he said.
