Four-star pleased with offer from Clemson

Clemson offered four-star guard [autotag]Rechon Black[/autotag] on Monday afternoon.

According to Rivals, Black is the No. 15 overall prospect in the class of 2018. 247 lists him at 46th.

The Concord, N.C. native already held offers from Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Georgia Southern and Western Carolina when word of the [autotag]Clemson[/autotag] tender was passed his way on Monday.

“I was walking to the school weight room and my dad pulled up and told me,” Black said.

The 6-foot-6, 170-pound prospect is still learning about Clemson.

“I hear it’s a nice campus. The head coach is a really cool guy. I’m taking a visit to Clemson sometime this month,” he said.

Black added that he’s “very honored” by the offer, and called it “a blessing.”

Clemson assistant Steve Smith serves as the point man in his recruitment, but head coach Brad Brownell will play a significant role, too.

“My dad told me he was on the phone with (Smith) and (Brownell) and they were going to make CHS their second home,” Black said.

A member of the CP3 AAU program, Black will be on the look-out for one particular area.

“The best fit for my family and me,” he said.

Black averaged six points, five rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks as a freshman at Concord.
