Around the Horn with TCI

The  TCI staff of Hale McGranahan, Will Vandervort, William Qualkinbush and Robert MacRae go Around the Horn to answer some of the questions surrounding Clemson athletics and college football.

Which remaining game will be the biggest challenge for Clemson?

Robert MacRae – Notre Dame is the most talented team remaining on Clemson’s schedule.  Florida State will be a challenge, but they showed Friday night only scoring one offensive touchdown against Boston College that they are a team the Tigers should be able to handle in the Valley.  The Irish have a strong defense as they showed in a holding Texas to three points and stuffing Georgia Tech this weekend.

Even though they have lost their starting running back and quarterback they are still a very good offensive team as they showed whipping the Jackets.

All that being said I expect the  Tigers to defeat Notre Dame when they visit the Valley.

William Qualkinbush – I still believe it’s the Florida State game in November. Notre Dame is formidable and the hype-atmosphere combo will be insane, but there’s some margin for error. Georgia Tech is early and not in the same division. That game with Florida State will likely have division, conference, and potentially national implications. Handling the weight of that magnitude of game in November will provide a young team its stiffest test.

Will Vandervort – There is still a lot of football to go, but if you asked me I think the Notre Dame game is the most difficult. Why? The Irish are playing with a lot of confidence right now and they believe they can win regardless of all the injuries. The injuries have forced them to come together as a team. And a team that is playing together is a hard one to beat. I also like the way Notre Dame plays on defense. The Irish are very physical upfront and they played very smart and disciplined against Georgia Tech. On offense, they still want to run the football and I really like Fuller at wide receiver. He will be a challenge for Kearse and company in the secondary.

Hale McGranahan – Notre Dame. Despite the injuries at quarterback and running back, the Irish still have plenty good pieces on that team.

I’m a really big fan of their defense, especially linebacker Jaylon Smith. The line is strong: Sheldon Day at tackle and an end some of y’all might remember: Isaac Rochell.

Defense travels, and this is probably the best one Clemson has on the schedule.

Really looking forward to Mackensie Alexander vs. Will Fuller, who might be the best wide receiver Clemson will see this season.
