Dakereon Joyner, one of the state’s top 2018 prospects, was in Clemson last Saturday for the Notre Dame game.
The quarterback/athlete from Fort Dorchester spoke with TheClemsonInsider earlier this week.
“I was so excited to get back up. I really enjoyed myself,” Joyner said. “It was one of my favorite times at Clemson, despite the rain. The rain didn’t hold me up. I enjoyed myself.”
Joyner was liked what he saw from the Tigers in their 24-22 win.
“They played well. I really enjoy watching Deshaun Watson play. That’s my idol. I study him and I just watch every little thing he does and I try to take something from him,” he said. “The offense was moving the ball. The defense played well. I was impressed.”
During the visit, Joyner spoke with several of assistant coaches, including Brandon Streeter, Jeff Scott, Tony Elliott and Mike Reed
“They were just congratulating me on my season and my team being 7-0,” Joyner said. “I had a big game a couple of weeks back and they were talking about the touchdowns I scored.”
A return for Saturday’s game against Georgia Tech was scheduled, but he won’t be able to make it because of personal reasons. Joyner is “definitely” going to make it back for Florida State. Trips to Ohio State and Georgia are also in the works.
This season, Joyner has 1,230 yards passing with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s rushed for 515 yards and four touchdowns.
