Clemson leads for Norcross forward

On Tuesday, Clemson head coach Brad Brownell offered three-star power forward Lance Thomas.

The 2017 forward from Norcross, Ga. already had offers from VCU, Texas Tech, Richmond, FIU, North Florida, College of Charleston, Western Kentucky, Middle Tennessee and Kennesaw State before Brownell pulled the trigger.

“My favorite right now is Clemson. Coach Brownell and coach (Richie) Riley make me a priority and they talk to me every day. Clemson is definitely my No. 1 right now,” Thomas said, during a recent interview with TheClemsonInsider.

Ranked by Scout as the No. 19 power forward in the class of 2017, Thomas took his first visit to Clemson earlier this fall for the Boston College game.

“It was pretty good. I liked it,” he said.

Thomas watched practice before spending the rest of the afternoon with Brownell and Riley.

“I like the way they play. They have a spread offense. They get stuff going and I just like the way they play,” Thomas said.

When Thomas got word of Clemson’s offer a few weeks later, Brownell let him know just how much he’s wanted in Tigertown.

“Coach Brownell is a humorous guy and he was telling jokes at first, then he was just talking to me about how he needs me there and I’m a priority to them,” Thomas said.

He added, “It means a lot to have an ACC offer. That’s the best conference in basketball…it means a lot.”

Thomas has also visited Georgia and Tennessee this fall.
