Former South Carolina commitment P.J. Blue made his first visit to Clemson earlier this month for the Florida State game.
The four-star from Montgomery-Park Crossing (Ala.) plans to be back on campus this weekend for the Wake Forest game.
“I just loved it. I loved the family atmosphere. I love the coaches. They all make you feel wanted. It was a great experience,” Blue said of his first trip to Tigertown.
Dabo Swinney, Brent Venables and the rest of the Clemson staff spoke with Blue while he was on campus.
“I really just met all of the coaches. I didn’t sit down and chat with any of the coaches, for real, but I talk a lot to coach Venables. He’s the one that recruits me. We communicate a lot,” Blue said.
South Carolina added him to their 2016 commitment list in July. He decommitted last month after Steve Spurrier retired.
Communication with Venables picked up about a week later.
“He told me that I would fit the scheme very well. They like big safeties,” Blue said. “They have Jayron Kearse. He’s 6-5, 220. T.J. Green is 6-3, 210. I’m 6-2 now and I’ll be about 210. He just likes how physical and aggressive I am. He thinks I could play free safety and strong safety.”
Tennessee and Louisville are also in the mix. The Vols like him as an outside linebacker.
“I played safety this past season and I really enjoyed it. A lot of people say they see me as a linebacker, but I feel I can play both. If I just loosen my hips a lot more, then I feel like I can either one,” Blue said.
As a senior, he had 67 tackles, two interceptions and six pass breakups.
