Player of the Game – Wake Forest

Before exiting with a shoulder injury, Ben Boulware was up to his usual tricks, wreaking havoc on Wake Forest.

Boulware’s afternoon ended in the first quarter, but he managed to rack up five tackles (four solos) and  two tackles for loss. He also forced fumble, which led to a 44-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to Charone Peake.

Jalen Williams, who came on as Boulware’s replacement at WILL linebacker, also had a productive outing. The freshman from Blythewood recorded six tackles (four solos), 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack.

Clemson’s WILL linebackers played a big part in limiting Wake Forest to 39 yards rushing on 32 carries. For their combined effort, Boulware and Williams share TCI’s Player of the Game honors.

Wake Forest put up a total of 152 yards of offense. The Demon Deacons scored twice, both of which were a result of Tiger turnovers.

Entering Saturday’s game, Boulware was tied for first among Clemson defenders with 100 total tackles. His 553 snaps played was second-most. Williams had eight tackles over 55 snaps.
