Lawson opting for the NFL

As expected, Clemson defensive end Shaq Lawson has decided to forgo his senior season at Clemson and will enter the NFL Draft once the 2015 season is complete.

The Clemson Insider reported on Nov. 16 in one of our Insider Reports, through several sources, that the 2015 season was to be Lawson’s last at Clemson, and on Tuesday those same sources confirmed an earlier report out of Houston, Texas that said Lawson was leaving for the NFL.

Lawson, a junior, led the nation in tackles for loss with 22.5. He also recorded 9.5 sacks to lead the Tigers, while finishing fourth on the team with 55 tackles. He was named as a First-Team all-American by USA Today earlier on Tuesday.

Lawson and top-ranked Clemson will face No. 4 Oklahoma in the College Football Playoffs on Dec. 31 in the Orange Bowl in Miami.
