Overton announces Clemson commitment

During Sunday night’s Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, four-star wide receiver Diondre Overton announced his commitment to Clemson.

Overton picked Clemson over NC State, Tennessee and Nebraska during the second quarter of the fifth annual All-American game.

The commitment to the Tigers gives them three for 2016: Four-star T.J. Chase, who’s also playing in Sunday night’s game, and four-star Cornell Powell.

Sunday night’s announcement makes it two 2016 commitments for Clemson this weekend. Five-star linebacker Shaq Smith pulled the trigger on Saturday, during the Under Armour game.

“Honestly, I just feel like Clemson would give me a better shot at the next level,” Overton said, during Sunday night’s broadcast. “I feel like they develop their wide receivers very well.”

As a senior, Overton caught 78 passes for 1,251 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 34 tackles and seven interceptions.
