Romeo Finley left Georgia Tech with the Yellow Jackets as his leader. That may no longer be the case.
TheClemsonInsider asked Finley after he left Clemson on Sunday if things have changed.
“I don’t know. I guess we’ll just have to see,” he said.
The four-star safety from Niceville, Fla. told TCI that he had a “great time” this weekend in Clemson.
“It was actually better than I expected,” Finley said.
He flew into Atlanta before getting to Clemson late Friday afternoon.
“It was just like the opening day. The coaches talked and we went and ate at a place. Then we went to the locker room and then we went sledding,” Finley said.
The night sled session in Death Valley was fun.
“I had a good time. We went sledding in stuff,” Finley said.
On Saturday, the official visitors toured the campus.
“The facilities looked really nice…academic stand-point, coach (Dabo) Swinney, he’s graduated 129 out of 135,” Finley said. “The other six are in the NFL. Ninety-five percent of everybody has graduated. That’s a key part.”
The team banquet was later that night.
“It was good to hear the players talk first-hand about the coaches,” Finley said
Ryan Carter served as his host for the weekend.
“They welcomed me with open arms,” Finley said. “They were telling me the same thing, ‘Bro, three safeties just left. There’s a real opportunity for you to come in and play. The coaching staff really loves you.’ It’s just all one family.”
On Sunday, he met with Swinney.
“Basically, they really want me there. They just had three safeties, two declared for the draft and one’s transferred…they really want me there and I’d have a really good opportunity to play next year,” Finley said.
