One week til Signing Day

Clemson’s final official visit weekend of the month now features the No. 1 player in the country.

Rashan Gary and his mom visited Clemson for the first time last spring, after stops at South Carolina and Georgia.

“We just saw everything Clemson. They were very in-depth with everything, because that’s what I asked for when I talked to coach (Brent) Venables,” Jennifer Coney told TheClemsonInsider last April.

“The things that I wanted to know, he definitely made sure that I had the information that I wanted. I like Clemson. My brother is only 20 minutes away from Clemson, so he’s not far from my brother and my nephews, nieces, sister-in-law. And we have family in Georgia. It was an overall great experience.”

Michigan hosted Gary for an unofficial visit last weekend, which ended up as an extended stay because of the winter storm. Michigan, of course, got an official. So did Ole Miss, USC and Auburn.

An announcement will be made next Wednesday at 1 o’clock on ESPN2.

Clemson is scheduled to have D’Von Wallace on campus for the next two days. The Cincinnati wide receiver commitment is on the Tigers’ board as a cornerback. Pittsburgh will host him over the weekend. But Ohio State got into the mix with an offer on Tuesday night.

This weekend will also feature four-star safety Isaiah Simmons (Olathe, Kan.) and four-star cornerback Lavert Hill (Detroit).

Four-star defensive tackle Michail Carter (Jackson, Ga.) is taking a mid-week official to Alabama before heading to Georgia this weekend. Four-star safety Romeo Finley (Niceville, Fla.) is off to Miami. Four-star cornerback Trayvon Mullen (Coconut Creek, Fla.) is done with his officials and will decide on Signing Day.

Four-star offensive lineman John Simpson (Fort Dorchester) visited Clemson last weekend. His plans to visit Alabama are still on, but that could change by Friday.
