North Marion High School athletic director Don Tucker couldn’t say enough good things about Blake Vinson.
Vinson, who was the second addition Clemson’s three-man offensive line class for 2017, transferred from Ocala Trinity Catholic to North Marion shortly after the end of his sophomore year.
The four-star offensive tackle (Scout) was welcomed with open arms at the Citra, Fla. high school.
“He fit right in just like he had been here forever,” Tucker said. “I’m telling you, I can’t tell you enough how likable he is. I love being around the kid.
“Those are the ones — you like to see them be successful, but those are the ones you hate when they leave — they’re just such good kids.”
According to Scout, Vinson is ranked as the No. 31 offensive tackle in the class of 2017.
“That kid is a beast. He’s totally opposite of what we were just talking about,” Tucker said. “You see him in the hallways and he’s a likable kid. You think to yourself that he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, then it becomes football time.
“He’s got one of those switches in him. The kid is an absolute beast. He just gets out there and he plays football the way it’s supposed to be played.”
According to Rivals, he’s the 46th best overall prospect in the state of Florida.
“He is an even better young man. He’s very likable. All the kids like him…he gets along with everyone well, he’s very friendly. He’ll walk right up to you and start talking to you,” Tucker said. “He’s an all-around great kid. He’s one of those that you love to be around. My first thought when I met him: Anybody that gets him is getting a fine young man.
“He’s great in the classroom. You can’t beat it. He works hard, too. When it comes to football, he’s a go-getter.”
