Sharone Wright was a two-time All-ACC selection before he went on to a four-year career in the NBA.

His son, who goes by the same name, now has a chance to follow those footsteps to Tigertown — Junior (6-5, 180) was offered by Brad Brownell on Tuesday night at The Well in Greenville.

“(Brownell) brought me into the little office and he said that it would be nice — that they want me and stuff, so he was just telling me about all about my game and how I was playing,” Wright said, “And how he needs a point guard who’s tall and knows how to score, who can see the floor.

“He was talking about the point guards right now and he likes them, but he needed somebody that could see the floor and do everything.”

A sophomore at West Florence High School, Wright didn’t show up to Greenville on Tuesday night looking for the offer, but he did know there was plenty of interest on Brownell’s end.

“I wasn’t really expecting it, but I knew they were looking at me, because I come to the games with my dad and (Brownell) would talk to me,” Wright said. “And my sister goes there, of course, so every time I see (Brownell), he would say what’s up and ask how my season was going. He would always check up on me, that goes for the rest of the assistant coaches, too.”

Georgia and California have offered, too. Wright likes having Clemson as an option now.

“It’s real cool, because all of my options are open, and I live in South Carolina and I go there a lot — knowing that they want me is great. It’s a good feeling,” he said.

As a sophomore, Wright averaged 14.8 points, four assists and five rebounds per game.
