What happened?

The Panthers (13-11, 5-7 ACC) took an early 1-0 lead on back-to-back one-out hits in the first inning.

The Tigers (21-7, 7-5 ACC) came back to tie the game in the third on an infield RBI single from Chris Okey. After Pittsburgh plated two runs in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead, Clemson had to again come back and answer on a two-out, two-run single from Chris Williams. The Tigers would plate the winning run in the eighth on a RBI single from Jordan Greene and go on to win their third ACC series of the season.

Game-Changing Moment:

The game changed in the sixth inning. With the Tigers trailing 3-1, they loaded the bases with no outs on a walk, single, and a walk. Following two quick outs, Williams came through with the clutch hit to tie the game and set up Greene’s game-winner in the eighth.

What went right?

Okey and Williams each had two hits in Clemson’s eight-hit attack. Williams had a game-high two RBI while Okey and Greene each drove in a run. Pat Krall was outstanding out of the bullpen, allowing a single hit in 4.1 innings of relief. Alex Eubanks settled down after a tough start to allow three runs (two earned) in 4.2 innings.

What went wrong?

The Tigers missed a couple of scoring chances, stranding eight runners in the game. Defensively, K.J. Bryant committed two costly errors. Eubanks had a decent start, but needs to be able to make it past the fifth inning.
