Monday Morning Quarterback

By Will Vandervort.

There is no doubting that Saturday’s win at Boston College was a quality win on the road for the Clemson football program, especially considering the circumstances.

The Tigers’ starting quarterback was watching the game from the sidelines. Their best running back was lost for the season with a torn ACL in the first quarter and their most athletic tight end tore his meniscus in his right knee in the third quarter. Starting strong safety Robert Smith was also lost for the game in the first quarter, yet, despite all the injuries, Clemson still found a way to total nearly 400 yards of offense against the nation’s eighth best defense while limiting the nation’s fourth best rushing attack to a season low as it rallied to beat Boston College, 17-13, in Chestnut Hill.

“We overcame the adversity within the game and had some critical plays at critical times,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said. “It is always a tough place to go and win. The biggest thing is that our guys are finding ways to win now.”
