Dabo Swinney had a question for Ray Ray McCloud the other day.
“When am I going to get my foot back because it has been up your butt all spring,” Clemson’s head coach asked prior to the Orange & White Spring Game last Saturday.
McCloud obviously gave it back to him after the game. And obviously got the message, too.
The sophomore wide receiver, who admitted he had an up-and-down spring, capped off the last six weeks of practice with a three-catch, 98-yard afternoon in the spring game, including a 61-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Deshaun Watson.
McCloud also caught a 31-yard pass from Kelly Bryant in the fourth quarter.
“He is trying to get me mature. That’s what I would say the word he has been using is, and just being consistent, which I have been working on,” McCloud said. “I love the feeling of him being on me like that. I love working for him and Coach (Tony) Elliott and Coach (Jeff) Scott, and them being on me to make me a better player.”
