Lee reels in 2016 RHP from Florida

Travis MacGregor’s decision came down to Clemson and NC State.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher from East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, Fla. made the call on Tuesday afternoon when he committed to throw for Monte Lee’s Tigers.

“I really liked the campus. The coaches, I really enjoyed them, talking to them. I thought Clemson had a great program and I wanted to be a part of it,” MacGregor told TheClemsonInsider on Wednesday.

He visited Clemson last weekend, but wanted to take a couple of days before making the final call on his decision.

“It’s awesome. I’m really looking forward to it. I think I’ve got a good chance to help out the program,” MacGregor said.

With a fastball that tops out at 94, MacGregor was named 8-A Player of the Year and was selected to the Florida state All-Star team.

As a senior, he gave up just two earned runs over 47 2/3 innings pitched, giving him a 0.29 ERA. MacGregor also recorded 73 strikeouts and allowed 23 hits.

“I throw a four-seam fastball, two-seam fastball, change-up and curveball. I like to attack the zone, throw strikes with my fastball,” he said.
