Clemson camp ‘way better’ than Tennessee’s

Cam Blakely, a 2018 wide receiver, spent three days at the Dabo Swinney High School Football Camp this week along with teammate Amari Rodgers. After also camping at Tennessee The Clemson Insider asked Blakely to compare the Swinney camp with the Vols’ camp.

“It’s night and day. Clemson, in my opinion, was way better than UT’s camp. We got there and we just saw who could play football. They didn’t worry about your 40 or your vertical. They just wanted football players at Clemson,” Blakely told TCI.

What did Swinney tell Blakely about a possible offer from the Tigers?

“Coach Swinney said I have a legit chance. I just have to work my butt off to get it,” said Blakely.

What other visits are on tap?

“None so far, but I’m gonna schedule some soon,” Blakely said.

Blakely plans to get back to Clemson later this summer.

“Absolutely! I’m gonna try to get back down there with Amari as soon as I can,” he said.

Blakely had high marks for co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Jeff Scott after working with him for three days at camp.

“I was looking forward to coming to camp to learn from him,” Blakely said. “He’s a really good coach and I learned a lot from him in just three days. He shows a lot of compassion and care when teaching and that’s what I like in a coach.”
