Rodgers: “If you want to win and play with the best come to Clemson”

Clemson commitment Amari Rodgers had been working hard to get 5-star WR Tee Higgins to join him with a commitment to the Tigers.  While many thought Tennessee might be the leader, Amari knew the Tigers were in great shape.

“I didn’t know it was going to be today (Monday).  I knew he was pretty close when we were at camp.  I knew he loved it.  I thought he would chose Clemson, but I didn’t know it would be today,” Rodgers. told The Clemson Insider.

Amari was awakened by his phone going off on the fourth of July.

“I woke up and my phone was blowing up.  I saw he did it and was like ole snap.  I got on the phone with him right away,” said Rodgers.

How does it feel knowing he will be able to play with one of his good friends?

“It is awesome.  When we first started getting recruited we talked about where we might end up.  It is great that we are both going to be playing at Clemson.  It is a blessing to be able to play with one of your good friends,” replied Rodgers.

Outside of Dabo Swinney Amari might be the best recruiter for the 2017 class.  He has a simple message that he passes on to other recruits.

“I just want to play with the best.  I want to win.  Clemson is the perfect offense that I want to play in.  I want to play with the best in the country and I want to win.  If you want to win and play with the best then come to Clemson,” said Rodgers.

One of Amari’s top remaining targets is another great from Tennessee, offensive lineman Trey Smith.

“We are still working on him. He is hard to crack. He is quiet about who he likes. We definitely have a chance. We just need to get him to come on visits to Clemson and put good stuff in his head,” said Rodgers.

Amari said there should no longer be any debate about which school is WRU.

‘No, not at all.  Clemson is definitely WRU.  There is no doubt in my mind,’ said Rodgers.

This week Amari is heading out to The Opening to play with some of the best players in the nation.  He will get to play on the same team with future teammates Hunter Johnson and Tee Higgins.

“It is going to be cool.  Getting to play with Hunter will be great.  We already have that connection.  Me, Tee and Hunter are already comfortable.  It will be cool trying to get a better feel for each other before we get to Clemson,” said Rodgers.

The All-American plans to do some recruiting while out west.

“There is no doubt.  All three of us can now go out there and recruit for Clemson,” said Rodgers.
