Jones says IMG teammates ‘loved’ Clemson visit

4-star linebacker Mike Jones spent plenty of time Wednesday talking with IMG teammates Brian Hightower and Jamal Elliott who took an unofficial visit to Clemson.

“I just got off the phone with them. They loved it. They really did love the staff and the facilities. They especially were impressed with what Clemson does on offense,” Jones told The Clemson Insider.

2018 4-star WR Brian Hightower was really impressed with what he saw and heard during the visit to Clemson and quickly learned about WRU.

“Brian was telling me about the job they do with big receivers at Clemson.  You can’t do any better than Clemson.  They are always putting guys in the league.  With the commits they have coming in you are going to have a great QB throwing you the ball.  You are going to get a No. 1 quarterback,” said Jones.

What type of relationship has Mike built with Jamal and Brian?

“Jamal is starting at IMG this Sunday.  Me and Brian are close because we have been here since January.  We both came in for the first semester,’ replied Jones.

Mike has been working hard to get some of the best talent in the nation to join him in Clemson’s 2018 class.

“I talked today with Trevor Lawrence.  I have been talking with Xavier Thomas and Myles Sims.  I am going after the big guys.  Everybody loves Clemson right now.  We have a chance to do something special with the 2018 class,” said Jones.

The IMG standout doesn’t expect to be alone in Clemson’s 2018 class much longer.

“There is a chance that after they see whats happening soon everybody will want to hop on with Clemson.  I won’t be alone for long,” said Jones.

Mike and his teammates will report to IMG this weekend.

“We all report back this Sunday.  Next week we will start lifting and getting ready for our 7-on-7 with Carol City.  We will be getting ready to compete,” said Jones.

IMG is a much different experience than attending a typical high school.

“It is great man.  I am surrounded by the best coaching staff and the best players.  We get to play with the best week in and week out,” said Jones.
