Meredith: ‘It’s amazing”

Clemson commitment Kier Meredith is once again getting ready to play with the best players in the nation.

“It’s amazing, the event hasn’t even started yet and they have overwhelmed us with so much gear! I’m just really Excited to get out on the field and get rolling,” Meredith told The Clemson Insider on Sunday.

Meredith is in Florida for the East Coast Pro showcase.

“It’s called the East Coast Pro Showcase. You’re put on a team of roughly 20-25 players from your region. My regional team is the Cleveland Indians which consists of NC,SC,VA,MD, and one kid from PA,” he said. “We are in Tampa, Florida and we will play other regions from the east coast at the Yankees’ spring training complex.”

Several future Tigers will play on Meredith’s team at the showcase and he will compete against some others.

“Sam Hall is on my team and we are rooming together. Adam Hackenburg is on my team as well,” he said. “He’s a young pup so I’m excited to get to play with him. Sam Weatherly is on another team here and so is Spencer Strider.”

Meredith is looking forward to meeting Adam Hackenburg, who recently committed to the Tigers.

“I actually hadn’t met him yet. Everything is crazy right now. Some guys haven’t even got to check in their rooms yet. The lobby is packed,” he said. “I’ll get to meet him tonight at the Banquet.”

After he arrived in Florida the prize recruit was given plenty of near gear.

“Adidas really hooked us up. They gave us a ‘Goodie bag’ with cleats, training shoes, t shirts, etc, etc. It’s amazing. I am truly blessed,” said Meredith.

In September Meredith will participate with the 40-man Team-USA roster to see if he can make the team that travels international. He hopes this week will help prepare him for the Team USA.

“Any time I’m playing against some of the nation’s best it will gear me up for the USA Trials,” he said.
