Dorman 4-star talks latest offer, early interest

After performing well at Virginia Tech’s football camp in mid-July, Dorman four-star wide receiver Jacoby Pinckney picked up an offer from the Hokies.

The Clemson Insider recently caught up with Pinckney, who also had a solid showing at the second session of the Dabo Swinney in June.

Pinckney said the offer from Virginia Tech means a lot to him.

“That’s a great school with a great program, so that’s big to me,” Pinckney said. “That’s a solid offer to me, somewhere that’ll get a lot of consideration.”

The 6-foot-3, 192-pounder was recently named a top-100 player in the class of 2019 by 247Sports.

“It feels good, but at the same time I know I have to perform,” Pinckney said. “It means nothing if I don’t perform.”

Pinckney’s latest visit occurred to South Carolina on July 23 for the Spurs Up Cookout. The Gamecocks were first to offer Pinckney on June 4.

Right now, Pinckney said Ohio State, Appalachian State and Clemson are showing the most interest.

“Ohio State, their recruiting coordinators have been in contact a little, and App State,” Pinckney said. “Clemson sends me some stuff in the mail.”

Pinckney isn’t sure when he will visit Clemson again, but a visit during the season could be on the docket.

“I’ll probably make a game,” Pinckney said.

As a freshman, Pinckney contributed on both the varsity and junior varsity for Dorman.

Heading into the upcoming season, Pinckney has his sights set on a few team and individual goals.

“My ultimate goal is to win a state championship. That’s the most important,” Pinckney said. “For myself, I would like to be all-state, but I haven’t really written out what I want my numbers to be.

“Just want to stay healthy, and anything will be possible.”
