Commit performances of the week

Week 4 of high school football is in the books and recruits have their eyes set on the ultimate goal of a state championship. With the future of Clemson football ever changing, it’s never too early to look forward to next year’s top newcomers.

Several recruits showed up on Saturday for the home opener against Troy, notably Amari Rodgers, Baylon Spector and Jordan Williams. As they focus on their senior season, seeing the Tigers run down the hill had to get them excited for next year.

Who are the recruits that Clemson fans should be excited about in Week 4?

Amari Rodgers continued to carve up the field in a 54-9 win for Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic. While only catching three balls thrown his way, Rodgers burned the Notre Dame (Tenn.) defense for two touchdowns on 134 yards. As he continues to build an impressive stat line this season, Dabo Swinney has to be excited about Rodgers athletic ability and potential to be the next great Clemson slot receiver.

Quarterback Hunter Johnson channeled his inner Deshaun Watson on Friday night using his arm and legs to lead Brownsburg (Ind.) to a 30-22 victory. His performance included three touchdowns, two in the air and a 42-yard run. Coming in as the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the Class of 2017, Johnson is just what Tiger fans ordered seeing as Watson should be playing on Sundays come next season.

Oak Ridge (Tenn.) receiver Tee Higgins used his mammoth size to haul in 12 passes for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Higgins possesses all of the physical ability and skills that you can’t teach. He will strengthen an already stacked unit at Wide Receiver University.
