Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Christian running back Justus Woods was in attendance for Clemson’s game against N.C. State last Saturday.

Woods, one of the top prospects in North Carolina for the 2018 class, holds offers from East Carolina, Northwestern, Virginia and Wisconsin among others. Clemson, Duke, Stanford and Wake Forest are showing interest.

Woods told The Clemson Insider he loved his first visit to Clemson.

“I thought the atmosphere was amazing,” Woods said. “I’ve always heard that Clemson games were loud, but I have a new appreciation for it now that I actually heard it for myself. I also had some good conversations with some of the coaches. Overall, it was a great experience.”

Woods caught up with Clemson special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Danny Pearman, the Charlotte-area recruiter.

“He said that he was glad that I was finally able to come out to Clemson,” Woods said. “And to continue working hard.”

Woods missed a couple of games early in the season due to a torn hamstring, but he is back to full health and Charlotte Christian is 8-0.

The 6-foot, 190-pounder is very familiar with Clemson’s style of offense.

“My team actually runs the Clemson offense,” Woods said. “Mike Miller, who actually used to coach at Clemson, is now our offensive coordinator.

“I love the fast-pace spread. I also like how the running back is used in a receiving role sometimes because I try to be as versatile as I can.”

Woods is happy he is hearing from Clemson, and would love the relationship to ramp up.

“It would mean a lot of I was able to receive an offer from them later down the line,” Woods said. “Wayne Gallman is one of the running backs that I look up to and try to mimic my running style after.”

Woods has also visited Northwestern this season. He plans to get to Duke, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
