Clemson defensive backs coach Mike Reed made a number of recruiting visits in Florida last week, including a stop at American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla., to see four-star cornerback Tyson Campbell.

Campbell, a top-100 prospect in the class of 2018, enjoyed meeting with Reed.

“It was good seeing him,” Campbell told The Clemson Insider. “Hopefully he liked what he saw.”

Clemson was first to offer Campbell in October 2015. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has added over a dozen offers since, highlighted by ones from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Last Friday, Campbell and American Heritage claimed the Florida Class 5A state championship with a 35-33 victory over Ponte Vedra.

Campbell is a prospect Reed is closely tracking.

“He told me he’s watching me,” Campbell said.

Campbell said he and Reed communicate regularly via Twitter.

“We don’t have each other’s number,” Campbell said, “so he sends pics on Twitter.”

Clemson, LSU, Ohio State and the Florida schools are perceived to be the leaders for Campbell right now.

When it comes to Clemson, Campbell can picture himself there.

“I like that he has a winning attitude,” Campbell said of Reed, “and I can see myself playing for him.”

Campbell is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 17 prospect in Florida, the country’s No. 13 corner and the country’s No. 93 prospect overall in the class of 2018.
